When I first moved to Bossier City, about three years ago, I had no idea the family community that awaited me. As I started my work at Hulafrog, I began to uncover so much of this city and the surrounding area’s family friendly events and businesses. Since my oldest child is now school-age, I have discovered so many awesome things for him to be a part of in this bustling, yet small town! When looking into what to do to keep my kids busy this summer, I came across so many local places that offer cool summer camps for kids! I had no idea there were so many places you could send your child to ward off the summer blues.
These summer day camps offer swimming, gymnastics, team building, athletic lessons and much more. Here are a few of my favorite kid summer camps in Bossier City.
1. The Swim School: Camp S.O.S
This camp offers kids ages 4-7 the chance to acquire more confidence in swimming while also having fun! Camp starts at the end of May and run through July. It runs Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. You can go for just one week or every week. Camp activities include swim lessons, water play time, arts and crafts, story time and a snack. Make sure you quickly register your kiddos for this one as only 10 campers are allowed each week.

2. Bossier Arts Council: Summer Film Camp Comedy
This camp is hosted by the Robinson Film Center, but it is being held at the Bossier Arts Council. This camp is one of the best summer camps in Bossier City because it allows campers to use their comedic talents to star in their own short comedy film. It is open to kids who have completed grades 6-12. Camp dates are June 18-22 from 1-5 p.m. The Robinson is also hosting several other camps this summer, including wizarding and music video camps.

3. Olympiad Gymnastics: Ninja Challenge Day Camp
This fun-filled day camp will allow your child to participate in laser tag, a 4-story indoor play-land, trampolines, interactive games, swimming, skating and a trip to the movies. To make this camp stand out, they will also have a Ninja Challenge in which there will be a massive ninja-themed obstacle course. This upbeat camp runs from July 9-13, 7 a.m to 6 p.m. and is for ages 5-12.

4. Pak’s Karate: Star Warrior Training Camp
Do you have a child who loves Star Wars? Then, this camp is for you! According to their website, at this camp “future star warriors will be training in the physical fitness, the mental challenges and the solid skills that they will need to possess to move on to Star Master. We will be learning the skills of martial arts sword fighting. Basic footwork, stances, striking, blocking and sparring will all be included. Future Star warriors will also be designing and creating their own light sabers.” The dates are July 16-20, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and are open to any child ages 5-15.

5. Bricks4Kids: “Community Helpers” Summer Camp
This LEGO-based camp is for ages 4-6 and will help each child learn the importance of community workers around our city. People like firefighters, teachers, mail carriers, police officers and more will be represented in LEGO brick building! Dates for this camp are June 25-29 from 9-11 a.m.
