Looking for Things to do in Bossier? Check out these August events

Though August means back to school, you can still enjoy your month with plenty of things to do in Bossier. Coronation season kicks off for special krewes like Barkus and Meoux. But if you aren’t quite ready for the revelry, get sporty and compete in a tennis tournament or watch live horse racing. No matter the event, August is so much more than just back to school.

Art for Teachers

Help art stay in the local classrooms. If you are an artist, answer this call to display your work and submit art following a theme of education. All of the proceeds will go toward teachers in Bossier Parish. If you just enjoy admiring art, you can attend the show.

Louisiana Cup Day

Support local and live horse racing and attend Louisiana Cup Day. This program features six stakes for accredited Louisiana-breds and the $60K Super Derby Prelude. Also, support a great cause as the Downs raises funds to benefit the Shantel Lanerie Breast Cancer Foundation. There will be plenty of activities for the family to enjoy.

Woofstock 21: A Mewsic Festival

Get ready for one of the cutest, pet-friendly coronations Shreveport-Bossier City has to offer. Celebrate the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux’s 21st year as they celebrate with a Woodstock theme. Enjoy brunch by Margaritaville Resort and Casino and be sure to check out an unlimited beer mug available for purchase.

WAM (Wine, Art and Music): featuring “Creative Art Connection”

Attend one of the best events this month as the Bossier Arts Council features a night to honor performing art, visual art and culinary arts. Featured art by the historic Creative Art Connections celebrating their 40th anniversary will be on display. Tickets are $35 which includes food and wine pairings.

2019 City Tennis Tournament

Anyone for tennis? Sign up to compete for local recognition. This event offers 17 different categories for players to compete in. Entry is limited to USTA members.

Joe Nichols with special guests Tambria Adams Band

Spend an August night enjoying the songs of Arkansas native Joe Nichols. Lend your ears to his simple perfection of “pure country music.” Along with Nichols, the Shreveport band Tambria Adams will perform. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 the day of the show.

‘Let’s Toast’  Wine Glass Painting Event

Have a girl’s night out as Birdwell’s hosts a game day addition of a wine glass painting party. Decorate your glass in either LSU or Louisiana Tech colors. Fees cover instruction and supplies. Seating is limited to 12 and tickets are $40.
