Use each of your senses to discover new art during the Show for the Senses. Meet the artists behind the show and experience each of the pieces by being hands-on during the reception. The show will be up through July 31 so be sure to bring your friends and family for a unique kind of art show.

“That’s No Ashtray” A Reader’s Theatre Event
Go watch local playwright Mike Sledge’s story of a family dealing with the tragic loss of their father. Two siblings learn more about unresolved issues and try to resolve conflict. Don’t miss the humorous tale of life after a death. Tickets range from $10-15.

Freedom Fest Fridays – Red, White and Blue Night
Each Friday through July 4 enjoy Freedom Fest Fridays at the East Bank District. Get in the patriotic spirit and celebrate as KTBS hosts five special events. Hear the Victory Belles as they take the stage at 5 p.m. Next, rock along to the Van-Dells when they perform at 6:30 p.m.

Herpetology Workshop
Interested in reptiles and amphibians? Learn more about our slimy friends by attending this workshop. Local speaker and author Micha Petty will teach the workshop. This event is geared toward adults, but tweens and older children are welcome. Live animals will also be a part of the presentation.

Super Hero Summer Film Camp
Need a hero? Bring your third through eighth grader’s creativity to life by signing them up for Super Hero Summer Film Camp. Allow them to explore their creativity and build their own hero or villain. By developing their character they will learn the ins and outs of filmmaking to round out the week by creating their own film. Camp fee is $185 and the price for Robinson Film Center members is $150.

Let’s Talk About: Compete LA
Join the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, the Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, the North Louisiana Economic Partnership and Shreveport-Bossier African American Chamber of Commerce for a special morning program. Hear from Jim Henderson, President of the University of Louisiana System, as he talks about the importance of providing internships for students and supporting existing employees by encouraging them to continue their education. Tickets are $20.

What’s better than a night of country music at one of Bossier City’s best music venues? Don’t miss John Michael Montgomery perform older hits as well as new songs from his recent album. Bunko Night
Spend your night playing a favorite local game all for a good cause. Play Bunko and raise funds for the Hospice Promise Foundation for CHRISTUS Hospice and Palliative Care Shreveport-Bossier City. There is a $25 entry fee per person. The fee also covers food items and one drink.

Twin City Roller Derby vs. Cajun Rollergirls
Root for your local roller derby stars during the Twin City Roller Derby’s third home game of the season. If you’ve never been, this is a game you won’t want to miss as our home girls are set to battle the Cajun Rollergirls. Tickets are $10 or season tickets are $40.
