Lilah’s Bakery in Savage Roots Boutique
Savage Roots Boutique has 2 locations in Bossier Parish – one on Barksdale Boulevard in South Bossier and another on Burt Boulevard in Benton. In addition to selling great outfits for the parades or graphic tees for the season, they are also one of Lilah’s Bakery partners within Bossier.
“When we started Savage Roots Boutique, our mission was to make an impact in our community with our small business and in turn do our best to support other local and small businesses as well,” owner Ciara Pickett said. “We were so excited to carry Lilah’s last year and give the people of South Bossier and Benton an easier pick up spot where they could get a king cake and find something cute to wear in one stop!”
Lilah’s offers a variety of flavors throughout the season including unique flavors like Italian cream, maple bacon, and zulu. Nonna Randazzo King Cake at Bergeron’s Boudin & Cajun Meats
Bergeron’s is a Cajun Specialty Market located on Benton Road. Not only can you buy their tasty boudin, gumbo, and their famous smoked chicken patties, but they are also a local distributor of Nonna Randazzo King Cakes! These king cakes are made in South LA and brought right here to Bossier.
Randazzo’s has been using their recipe since 1965 and some of their featured seasonal flavors include:
- Traditional
- Cream cheese
- Strawberry or blueberry + cream cheese
- Pecan Praline (regular or + cream cheese)
- Fleur de Lis
You can buy Randazzo king cakes whole or by the slice.
For years, Tubbs Hardware has been a Mardi Gras staple for years, offering everything from seasonal houseware, party decorations, throws like cups and beads, and most importantly, king cake in Bossier.
Tubbs uses their original recipe to offer flavors like traditional, cream cheese, and even x-treme cream cheese. According to owner Don Tubbs, these cakes can feed around 20-24 people or 10-12 Cajuns. They even offer shipping throughout the continental U.S. if you want to share the love with anyone outside of the great state of Louisiana.
In South Bossier you’ll find a Cajun-Style sandwich shop “where every day is Fat Tuesday.” They sell their delicious Mardi Gras cakes by the slice or whole.
“They are made fresh every day,” Ashley Hibner, owner of Fat Tuesday, said. “We make the dough, the cream cheese, the icing and the sugars…everything is from scratch.”
They offer flavors like regular cream cheese, strawberry cream cheese, blueberry cream cheese, cinnamon sugar, and pralines and cream. Each cake features their unique lemon and orange zest.
You can find their king cakes available in-store either by the slice or whole. While you’re there, be sure to pick up one of their new Fat Tuesday t-shirts that feature their store information on the back, and a picture of a king cake and the funny phrase, “Where Babies Come From,” on the front.
Lowder Baking Company in Birdwell’s
Lowder Baking Company opened in 2019 and Birdwell’s has been partnering with them to distribute their king cakes to Bossier City ever since.
“It’s been fun to watch them grow,” Birdwell’s owner, Angela Pfanner, said. “Sarah and Preston, the owners of Lowder, have been great to work with.”
During the king cake season, you can visit Birdwell’s website to order your Lowder’s king cake for local pick up. They will be offering mini king cakes and large king cakes in their weekly flavors and their traditional and cream cheese flavors. Sweet Cheeks is a Haughton based bakery owned by Jodi Gillis. She began selling king cakes in January of 2020 and offers a large king cake size that serves around 20 people in six different flavor options. These flavors include: cream cheese, cinnamon cream cheese, cinnamon brown sugar cream cheese, strawberries and cream, blueberries and cream, and pecan pralines and cream.
Each of these cakes are made from scratch by Gillis, including the sanding sugar and fillings.
