Although summer is winding down and the kids are back to school, families still need weekly entertainment in Bossier Parish. A wide variety of events from the traditional Labor Day Weiner Dog races and Super Derby events to the unique Cirque Italia Water Circus await locals and visitors this September.

Labor Day Weiner Dog Charity Races

It’s time to root for the weenies at the annual Louisiana Downs Casino and Racetrack Labor Day Wiener Dog Charity Races. Bet on 4 different races with local pups kicking up dust on the track at Louisiana Downs. All proceeds from wagers on the races go to the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana.

Cirque Italia Water Circus

Follow a comedic story as Cirque Italia Water Circus tells the tale of a farm boy taken away from his normal life by a tornado and plopped in the center of a city. Meet Clown #2, the head of security who makes attendees laugh while explaining how to be safe. New acts and displays will reflect the culture and lives of city residents, while others will tell side stories ranging from 60s hippie culture to a love story. The show’s central theme celebrates diversity, unity, and inclusivity with the ideals of an American circus.

When: Sept. 5 and 6 at 7:30 p.m., Sept. 7 at 1:30, 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., Sept. 8 at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m.

Battle of the Bags

Everyone loves a good game of cornhole and it’s even better when you do it for a good cause. This tournament benefits organizations that support both first responders and military personnel. Participants will face a double elimination format across 10 courts, and awesome prizes of $500 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place. Spectators can cheer on teams and enter a raffle with fantastic prizes, gift cards, swag, and more.

Comedy in East Bank

Your LoCo Fest 2024 winner Glenn Stuart, winner of LoCo Fest 2024 is back to host his very own live special. An hour special will showcase one of the area’s top comedians. Get extra laughs with opener Tristan Lex, featuring one of Shreveport’s own Clyde Williams.

Rodney Carrington in concert

Rodney Carrington will perform songs from his 11 comedy albums live at Margaritaville’s Paradise Theater in Bossier City. Known for his Netflix special, ABC sitcom “Rodney,” and his feature film “Beer for My Horses,” Rodney will perform songs from his latest album “Get ‘Em Out,” along with some of his classics including “Dancing with a Man,” “Fred,” “Carlos, Man of Love” and “Camouflage.”

The 42nd Edition of the Super Derby

One of the biggest races in the history of Louisiana horse racing returns to Louisiana Downs Casino & Racetrack. This growing event features fun for those placing bets and families looking for a fun day at the racetrack. Attractions include a hat contest, food trucks, events for kids, and the main event of the Super Derby race.

When: Sept. 14, 1:45 p.m.

Dinner Under the Stars: A Taste of the East Bank

Dinner Under the Stars offers fun and food for a good cause. Enjoy a select menu of entrees by East Bank restaurants, plus a “Grit and Glam” silent auction. Tickets are $50 and all proceeds benefit Keep Bossier Beautiful, a local Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Keep America Beautiful affiliate, which has been serving the local community since 1985.

When: Sept. 22, 6 p.m.
