We’re not far from spring turning into summer, so enjoy those mild temps by stepping out to enjoy these events across Bossier Parish in May! From craft beer festivals and night markets to a home tour and semi-pro soccer match, there are tons of offerings this month for you to stay entertained.

Kegs and Corks: Craft Beer, Wine, and Music Festival

Bossier’s first and only craft beer, wine, and music festival offers the ultimate gathering of beer, wine, and merriment. This annual event for the whole family will give a variety of craft beers and vinos for enthusiasts to sample with live music and a silent auction for entertainment and plenty of food options. VIP tickets with food, special wines and beers, a souvenir shirt and swag bags are available.

Bossier Night Market: Star Wars & Cinco De Mayo

The Bossier Night Market returns for a special event to celebrate the unofficial Star Wars holiday “May the 4th” and Cinco de Mayo. More than 230 vendors offering homemade food and goods, 15 food trucks, giveaways, fireworks, more than 75k twinkling lights, lightsaber fun, alien costumes, and more are available to enjoy at this free event.

Louisiana Downs Opening Day

Louisiana Downs is kicking off their 52nd Thoroughbred racing season with food trucks, bounce houses, and thrilling horse races for the whole family. From Quarter Horse to Thoroughbreds, this is the start of more than 100 days of exciting race action.

When: May 3, from 2:30-6 p.m.

Parade of Homes

This is your chance to take a peek and see the latest styles, designs, and construction in homes at the annual Northwest Louisiana Association of Home Builders Parade of Homes. This self-guided tour offers two days to visit 33 homes by 15 builders in 17 neighborhoods across five cities. Ranging in sizes and pricing, these are the homes and subdivisions in Bossier: 510 Tickfaw River, Edgewood Pass; 531 Cocodrie Drive, The Preserve; 452 Preserve Boulevard, The Preserve; 423 Archway Crossing, Provident Oaks; Caledonia Drive, Tiburon. And these are the homes in Benton, all in the Turtle Creek subdivision: 17 Turtle Creek Drive, 19 Turtle Creek Drive, 21 Turtle Creek Drive, 47 Turtle Creek Drive, and 53 Turtle Creek Drive.

When: May 3 and 4, from 1-5 p.m.

Sunday Funday: 10th Anniversary Celebration of Flying Heart Brewing & Pub

Flying Heart Brewing is offering its inaugural Sunday Funday event with a day filled with entertainment and activities. A cornhole tournament sanctioned by the Shreveport-Bossier Cornhole Association is offering $2,000 in prizes. Plus, various kids’ activities and live music will create an inviting, relaxing atmosphere that families can enjoy together.

Barksdale Market

The Barksdale Market serving South Bossier is back every Sunday in May with food trucks and more than 45 vendors offering craft goods, candy, jewelry, clothing, and baked goods all in a free, pet-friendly environment with free parking.

Dement Brothers Boxing Club Presents: Destined Champions 5K

The new Destined Champions Promotions, a professional boxing promotions company, is hosting an event promoting fitness and fun for all ages. Benefitting the Dement Brothers Boxing Club, a nonprofit boxing gym that helps at-risk youth through the sport of boxing, this 5K gives everyone from experienced runners to those looking to meet people while on a casual stroll a chance to enjoy the outdoors. There is also a post-race gathering featuring local vendors, prizes, and more for participants to enjoy.

The Benton Swap is a bustling farmer’s market held on the 2nd Saturday from March to June and September to November that showcases poultry, livestock, and more. Attendees can also discover handmade goods from local artists, that range from custom coops to unique jewelry.
