Events in Bossier to Explore This June

Summer is here, school is out, and there are plenty of June events in Bossier Parish for the whole family. From art openings and fundraisers to soccer matches and a class on snakes for the kiddos, there’s no reason not to get out and enjoy what Bossier has to offer.

Opening reception for The Inner Realms by Dyra Turner

The Virginia Cook Gallery is hosting works by local artist Dyra Turner in the show “The Inner Realms.” These oil paintings and glass mosaics feature themes of transformation and imagination to reflect personal growth while inviting viewers to connect with their own experiences. The show will run from June 3 to July 29.

When: June 6, from 6-8 p.m.

Opening reception for Impressed by Derek Sarvis

The Bossier Arts Council East Bank Gallery is hosting the show “Impressed” featuring acrylic paint and ceramic works by Derek Sarvis. The artist uses impressionism and abstract expressionism to create paintings with contemporary landscapes and color fields, while ceramic creations turn the paintings into functional 3-D vessels. The show runs from June 3 to July 29.

Jamey Johnson in concert

The Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music award winner, and 10-time GRAMMY nominee, brings his unique voice and storytelling abilities to Bossier City with a special concert at Margaritaville.

When: June 6, 8 p.m.

Bossier City Gun Show

The Bossier City Gun Show lets enthusiasts trade for the gun they’ve always wanted while seeing hundreds of displays of new and old guns, ammo, gun parts, books, knives, jewelry, camouflage, militaria and related items. General admission is $10, admission for children 6-11 is $2, and admission for children under 6 is free. Under 18 will be admitted with parents only.

When: June 7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lake Bistineau Clean Up

Experience a day of community and enjoy the outdoors by joining Keep Bossier Beautiful and The Bayou Chapter of the Ozark Society to help clean up along Lake Bistineau. Volunteers are invited to bring their kayak, boat, or waders to help improve their local environment. Lunch will be provided by Advanced Air Conditioning & Heating for registered volunteers.

When: June 7, 8 a.m.

Barksdale Market

The Barksdale Market serving south Bossier is back every Sunday in May with food trucks and more than 45 vendors offering craft goods, candy, jewelry, clothing, baked goods all in a free, pet friendly environment with free parking.

When: June 8, 15, and 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Art & Ales

Indulge your artistic and philanthropic sides with this unique night of crafting and home brews. Guests can pick from a fanny pack, sunglasses, or a record to decorate in their style. Included in your ticket is a beer or root beer on Flying Heart so you can have liquid fuel to create your first, or latest, masterpiece. All proceeds help promote community music and arts by benefitting the Highland Jazz and Blues Festival.

Artini 2025

The largest fundraiser for the Bossier Arts Council turns 15 this year by giving patrons the chance to see and taste their art. This unique event immerses attendees in art via cocktails with appropriate cocktail attire, hors d’oeuvres, music, and dancing while they are also supporting the arts council’s mission of promoting and creating art throughout Bossier Parish.

When: June 14, from 7-11 a.m.

Red River FC vs LA Krewe

The local USL League Two soccer team features athletes on the verge of the pros squaring off in a fun, intense match in our backyard. Families can also enjoy pre-game festivities with food trucks, local vendors, and family attractions. Plus, halftime entertainment makes this a full evening of fun.

Local Snake ID and Pet Care

Steve’s Snaketuary, a local snake rescue, is helping eliminate fear through education with a snake identification and pet snake care class. Live snakes will be on display, and Steve will help you get rid of your fear of snakes by educating you on the importance of them and showing how fascinating and magnificent they can be.
