Looking for a Summer Sweet Treat in Bossier? These Places Are Calling Your Name!

When the Louisiana heat kicks in, nothing hits the spot like a refreshing summer sweet treat, and Bossier City has two must-visit spots that deliver just that. Whether you’re craving a classic snowball or a tropical-inspired dessert bowl, there’s something to satisfy every sweet tooth. A longtime local favorite, Streetcar Station Snowballs offers year-round snoballs and ice cream with nostalgic charm and bold flavors. On the other hand, Aloha Bowls & Cream brings a fresh, beachy vibe with vibrant açaí bowls, creamy soft serve, and island-inspired toppings. If you’re looking to treat yourself,  be sure to put both of these spots on your must-try list.

Streetcar Station: Where Southern Charm Meets Sweet Treats All Year Long

Tucked away in Bossier City, Streetcar Station has quickly become a favorite spot for snoball and ice cream lovers, and not just in the summer. When asked why the business serves cold treats year-round, owner Erica Gilliam simply says, why not?

“With the Eastbank District being known for a cajun southern vibe, we think the product and location are a great fit to have year-round,” said Gilliam.

Inspired by the smooth, soft texture of authentic New Orleans-style snowballs, Gilliam believes these desserts, much like soft serve or frozen yogurt, deserve a place in every season. Born and raised in New Orleans, she knows a true NOLA snoball when she tastes one.

“I’ve spent years perfecting my ice,” she said. “If the ice is shaved right, the flavor doesn’t sink to the bottom and every bite is delicious.”

“A snowball and a snow cone are very different because of the ice. One is soft, smooth, and almost powdery, whereas the other is crunchy!”

She takes pride in offering creamy, flavor-packed options like Red Velvet Cake, Key Lime Pie, Cakebatter, and more, blended with milk rather than just topped with condensed milk. This makes the snoball similar to a scoop of soft ice cream!

But the fun doesn’t stop at snoballs. Streetcar Station is the only place in Northwest Louisiana offering ultra-premium ice cream from the New Orleans Ice Cream Company.

“It’s the Ferrari of ice cream,” Gilliam explains.

Customers love mixing it with their snoballs in a signature Stuffed Snoball. One popular combo is the “SnoDat,” a Praline Snoball stuffed with Praline Crunch ice cream.

Seasonal treats are also part of the charm.

“We offer Pumpkin Pie in the fall and it’s to-die-for,” Gilliam said. She recommends it with Coffee, Chicory, or Creole Cream Cheese ice cream.

In true creative fashion, Gilliam didn’t stop at sweets. The business also includes an indoor Nerf play space called The Swamp.

“To me, it’s the best of both worlds,” she said. “It brings in off-season revenue and includes snoballs with the parties, what mom doesn’t want dessert already planned?”

Coming up, National Snow Cone Day or as Gilliam’s team calls it, National SnoBall Day, is Friday, August 1, which also marks their third anniversary.

“We’re offering $3 Medium SnoBalls and a raffle with a grand prize of a free Nerf Party in The Swamp!”

Fun fact: Did you know that Streetcar Station began as a mobile food truck on Mardi Gras Day 2018 and is now a franchise  with two other “streetcars.” One is Caddo and Desoto and the other is in Panama City Beach, Florida.

The Bossier streetcar can be found at school fundraisers, festivals, and at businesses for employee appreciation, and so much more!

Aloha Bowls & Cream, Island Vibes in Bossier City

Say Aloha to Bossier City’s newest sweets shop, Aloha Bowls & Cream. Matheus Campos, originally from Brazil, had long dreamed of opening his own business. After moving to Bossier City post-college, he and his best friend Matheus Gomes decided to bring a taste of Brazil to the city with a business centered around açaí.

“Self-serve açaí is very popular back home. We decided to bring that business model to Bossier City. Self-serve is something new we are bringing to the area,” said Campos.

While Aloha Bowls & Cream operates as a self-serve concept, allowing customers to create their customized bowls, you can still choose from a variety of pre-designed menu items for a quick and delicious option. The shop offers an impressive selection of bases, including açaí, sorbet, smoothies, and more than 20 ice cream flavors. These can be paired with a wide range of toppings like fresh fruit, chocolates, candies, and crunchy add-ins. Whether you’re in the mood to indulge or want a tasty, healthier treat, Aloha has something for everyone.

“We have fruit for those who want to enjoy a delicious treat but remain healthy. Açaí is really healthy and is filled with antioxidants. It tastes good and is good for you; that is why it is becoming very popular in the States,” said Matheus Gomes.

When you hear the word “Aloha,” your mind naturally drifts to a tropical escape, and that’s exactly the vibe Aloha Bowls & Cream brings. With bright colors, beachy music, and a relaxing environment, every visit feels like a mini vacation.

“The music and the environment bring a feel-good experience. We want you to come in with your friends and family and sit down and hang out,” said Gomes.

As the Bossier community gets to know the shop, Aloha Bowls & Cream is excited to collaborate with schools, sports teams, and offer catering for birthday parties and special events.

“We want the community to give us a chance. We are bringing something new to Bossier, but you’re going to love it. It tastes good and can be made healthy,” Gomes said.
