Pumpkins with a Purpose at Asbury United Methodist Church
A longtime Bossier tradition, the Asbury United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch brings together community, giving, and plenty of pumpkins. Coordinators David and Carolyn Burroughs lead this beloved event with heart and local connection.
“This year, we unloaded 8,000 pumpkins and gourds of every shape and size, “ said Burroughs.
The patch, located behind the church at 3200 Airline Drive, is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitors can pick pumpkins, enjoy family photos, or relax with a picnic surrounded by fall color, and don’t leave without a loaf of their famous homemade pumpkin bread from Bonnie’s Bakery.
“What makes Asbury’s patch truly special is that 100% of proceeds go back into local missions, supporting groups like Katy Build, Bossier Parish Schools, Volunteers of America’s Lighthouse, The HUB Ministry, and The Renesting Project.”
The pumpkins themselves even give back, grown on the Navajo Nation in New Mexico, they help support over 700 Native American jobs each season.
“When you visit, it’s an experience from selecting the perfect pumpkin, to playing games, to littles shopping for their mini pumpkins in the tent, “ Burroughs explained.
Pumpkins vary in price from $1 for the smallest pumpkin to $40 for a huge one. Admission to the pumpkin patch is free! Throughout October, families can also enjoy Pumpkin Painting, a Coffee & Car Show, Trunk or Treat, and a Baked Goods by Harper Sale.
