Gogiya Korean BBQ Heats Up Bossier’s Dining Scene

Bossier City’s dining scene just heated up with the addition of Gogiya Korean BBQ

Located on Benton Road, meals don’t only arrive at your table; they come to life right in front of you. It’s an experience built around fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and shared dining that turns a simple meal out into a memorable experience.

Gogiya is introducing many locals to Korean barbecue for the first time while creating an authentic option to those already familiar with Korean and Japanese cuisine.

“I have always wanted to share Korean cuisine with our city, and when the opportunity presented itself earlier this year, I knew it was too good to pass up,” said Changin Lim, president of Gogiya Korean BBQ.

Korean BBQ is as much about connection as it is about cuisine — patrons gather around tabletop grills, cooking marinated meats like bulgogi and pork right at their seats. It’s designed for sharing dishes, trying new flavors, and lingering a little longer at the table.

It’s interactive, communal, and just a little bit theatrical, which feels right at home in a community like Bossier, where meals often double as social gatherings.

The restaurant has several Japanese hibachi grills in operation and is rapidly expanding its offerings of Korean BBQ tables, with several installed and beginning operations.

“I have always believed that food is one of the most powerful ways to bring people together. Food has the ability to build relationships and create life-long memories,” said Lim. “For me, food is a way I can serve others and help them share these magical moments.”

While the grilling experience is the star, Gogiya also offers a large menu with a variety of approachable options for those new to Korean cuisine. Popular dishes include Bulgogi, thinly sliced marinated beef grilled to perfection; Kimbap, Korean-style rice rolls packed with meat and vegetables; and a variety of noodle dishes and sushi rolls.

That balance of introducing something new but approachable is part of what makes Gogiya stand out.

“The community has been very excited and supportive, with many waiting a long time for a Korean BBQ restaurant to open here,” Lim revealed. “Many of our local Airmen have ties to Korea through their service there and were thrilled to have authentic Korean food in the area.”

The restaurant is locally owned with a commitment to sharing authentic Korean cuisine through quality ingredients and service. This is Lim’s third restaurant in the area, and while he admitted it is very difficult to manage one restaurant, let alone multiple, his years of experience taught him important lessons he used in opening Gogiya.

“By implementing the right systems and nailing down the crucial elements such as quality, consistency, and communication,” said Lim. “I have been able to create effective and great work environments that allow our teams to perform at a high level every day.”

Gogiya’s arrival continues a broader shift in Bossier’s food culture as more diverse dining options open, giving residents new ways to explore global flavors without leaving town.

Korean BBQ fills a unique niche by offering something different from traditional sit-down restaurants. Gogiya invites diners to slow down, engage, and participate in the meal itself. It’s dinner and experience rolled into one.

“I saw the opportunity to not just serve great food, but to create a space with love and the utmost care behind it,” said Lim.
