It’s hot outside but there are plenty of cool events to distract you this August. Across Bossier Parish are many activities ranging from concerts to gaming and everything in between. Check out what’s on tap this month!
Bossier City Farmers Market
The 2024 Bossier City Farmers Market, voted the No. 1 farmers market in Louisiana, kicks off April 6 and is open every Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October in the south parking lot of Pierre Bossier Mall. The market has more than 75 vendors with a wealth of local fresh veggies and fruits, food trucks, jams, salsa, honey, Venezuelan and Cuban cuisine, handmade soap, baked goods, jellies, pickles, tamales, fresh gulf shrimp, flowers, kettle corn, face painting, balloons and much more.

AOI Live Vol.2 Galactic Battle of the Bands
AOI Live Vol.2 Galactic Battle of the Bands will feature a cosmic musical experience where Dr. Maxamillion & The Insomniacs go toe to toe with Slive & The Underdogs. This event will feature a cosmic musical experience where Dr. Maxamillion & The Insomniacs go toe to toe with Slive & The Underdogs. This show is the closing half of the School of Imagination back to school event. The back-to-school giveaway entry is free. Tickets are $20 and up.

Bossier City Gun and Knife Show
The Bossier City Gun & Knife Show will be held at the Bossier City Civic Center and is promoted by Classic Arms Productions. Bring your gun and trade for the gun you always wanted. See the hundreds of displays of new and old guns, ammo, gun parts, books, knives, jewelry, camouflage, militaria and related items at discount prices. General admission is $10, admission for children 6-11 is $2, and admission for children under 6 is free. Under 18 will be admitted with parent only.
When: Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Aug. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Bossier City Lions Club Football Jamboree
The 71st annual Bossier City Lions Club Football Jamboree will be August 30, 2024 at the Airline High School Stadium. The Jamboree enables the Bossier City Lions Club to support projects throughout the year, which includes the following:
- $1,500 scholarship to a student from each of the six parish high schools
- $1,000 to each of the six parish high schools
- Conduct eye screenings in preschools across Bossier Parish
- Supports the Lions Camp for Children near Leesville, Louisiana
- Supports the Louisiana Eye Foundation
- Purchases eyeglasses for Bossier residents in need of assistance
- Carry out other community service projects as opportunity arise.
100% of the proceeds from the jamboree and other Lion fundraisers go directly into community service projects. No money goes to any of the members or the Lions Club International organization.

Elle King in Concert
Grammy nominated singer and songwriter Elle King will perform at Margaritaville Resort Casino in Paradise Theater. King is a four-time Grammy Award nominee, two each in the rock and country categories, and received honors from the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards. She released her debut album, Love Stuff, in 2015. It produced the US top ten single “Ex’s & Oh’s,” which earned her two Grammy Award nominations. Adult tickets are $45 and up.
