Where to See Holiday Lights in Bossier
The holiday season is upon us, and one of the best ways to experience the spirit of Christmas is by enjoying twinkling Christmas light displays. One of the most enchanting traditions for families, friends, and communities is viewing Christmas lights. Christmas lights are a wonderful way to spread joy and create a warm and festive feeling on cold winter nights. Whether strolling through your neighborhood or visiting a local display, here are some of the best places in Bossier City to see holiday lights.
Louisiana Boardwalk
The Louisiana Boardwalk has transformed into a twinkling winter wonderland with white lights everywhere, creating an enchanting atmosphere as you eat, shop, drink, and be merry. You may visit this dreamy light display now until December 31, 2024. In addition to the light display and the huge Christmas tree, the Louisiana Boardwalk also has a blizzard snow show that happens from November 29 to December 29, Friday through Sunday at noon and 6 P.M. This makes the Louisiana Boardwalk a great place for a holiday light display experience.
Greenacres Place
Greenacres Place is a premier neighborhood located in North Bossier City. This community has been a point for enjoying holiday lights for many years. The homes are nicely decorated with lights, props, arches, and much more to bring forth the holiday spirit! Nicole Hardman, a resident of Bossier City said, “ I have memories of riding through Greenacres Places to look at Christmas lights
when I was a child. It is one of my favorite holiday memories with my family. It was a yearly tradition for us.”
Nicole painted the picture of family, spending quality time with loved ones, and creating memories to last a lifetime.
“I loved my family tradition so much that I have continued the tradition of going to Greenacres Place to look at lights with my family,” said Hardman. For the last four years, Hardman and her family have stopped at Starbucks for hot chocolate to sip on as they listen to Christmas music and ride around Greenacres Place enjoying the holiday lights.
“Christmas makes me feel magical, and the lights give me a tingly feeling, warm my heart, and make me smile. I love the joy it brings to me,” Hardman said.
Kingston Plantation
Kingston Plantation Subdivision is another premier neighborhood in Bossier City that sparkles with hundreds of lights illuminating its streets and homes. The homeowners of Kingston Plantation turn their community into a holiday display featuring twinkling lights, inflatables, lined driveways, unique themes, and posed reindeer. This neighborhood sure knows how to bring the spirit of Christmas to their community and the city of Bossier.
Lisa Wiggins Dilts, a resident of Kingston Plantation says, “I appreciate holiday lights so much. My family loves pointing out our favorite houses. We love the creativity and themes people come up with.”
Dilts expressed her feelings about people from all over Bossier City coming to her community to view the amazing light displays.
“Our community is amazing and I love the hometown feel. I am proud to live where people come and enjoy the small joys in life.”
If you ask Dilts what she loves the most about viewing lights with her family she will say making memories with the ones she loves.
“My husband and I came from very humble beginnings and value core family traditions. Even though our lives are very different now, we want our kids to value the gift of spending time with the ones you love. Society has filled the minds of so many that you ‘need’ so much ‘stuff’ to be happy. The truth of the matter is making memories with the ones you love will last way longer than the stuff that will soon be forgotten. You don’t have to be rich with money, you can be rich with joy in seeing the smiles on the faces of the ones you love by just doing small free or very inexpensive activities with them,” Dilts said.
Tiburon – Candy Cane Lane
This neighborhood in Bossier City is known for its Christmas light display called “Candy Cane Lane.” Candy Cane Lane was developed about five years ago when Gloria Deyoung and her husband Robert Deyoung moved to Tiburon and decided to build Christmas light arches for their sidewalk.
“Once we built our arches, our neighbors decided to build arches and our neighbors across the street decided to make candy canes and then I decided to name our street Candy Cane Lane,” said Gloria. Nearly everyone on her street decorates for Christmas. Not only did Gloria and Robert bring Christmas arches to the neighborhood, but they also brought a snow machine.
“Every weekend we take the snow machine out and we buy fake snowballs and the children have snowball fights,” said Gloria.
Candy Cane Lane creates a breathtaking sight of shining lights creating a dreamy tunnel fun for all ages. In addition to the spectacular display of lights, spectators can enjoy snow and candy canes.
“Some weekends we would have 50-60 people come out to see the arches. The kids love running through the arches and it does not take much to put a smile on a kid’s face,” said Gloria.
She explained how Candy Cane Lane has influenced more people in the neighborhood to decorate for Christmas.
“When we first moved in, there weren’t many people doing decorations but now everybody does it. It’s fun and we do it for the kids. It’s a lot of work and it takes up our weekends but when we see the kids playing and the smile on their face, it makes it worth it.”
Candy Cane Lane runs until the end of December. The snow machine with the lights can be enjoyed on Friday and Saturday nights but the light display can be enjoyed every night.
“I wish more neighborhoods would decorate because it brings the community together,” Gloria said.
