Kick Off 2025 With These Events in Bossier

Let’s kick off 2025 the right way with these events in Bossier this January. The new year is here, and there’s no better way to celebrate than by participating in the community via a slew of events. With major comedy shows, Mardi Gras celebrations, various archery events, and jambalaya cookoffs, there’s plenty to pick from for all types and ages. 

2025 ALAS North Regional

Archery in Louisiana Schools (ALAS) is a part of the National Archery in the Schools Program, which introduces students in grades 4 through 12 to international target-style archery as part of the school’s physical education curriculum. Over 700 archers from 30 schools across northern Louisiana will compete at this tournament. Scores will be used to determine who qualifies for March’s State Tournament.

When: Jan. 10, at 8 a.m.

Run in the New Year

Start 2025 by running along the Red River with a 5k, 10k, 15k, or Half Marathon hosted by the Freedom Runners. The run starts and ends at the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s substation with a flat course that features repeated paths. There will be medals for all participants, free photos, and results will be posted online following the results. The races will be held rain or shine.

When: Jan. 11, at 8 a.m.

EBM Jambalaya Cookoff

The East Bank Mafia is hosting a competitive cooking event complete with sample tasting, live music, and more to benefit Hogs for the Cause. Attendees can buy a Tasting Ticket to guarantee sampling all the teams’ dishes. Public sampling starts at 11 a.m. and attendees get to vote for the People’s Choice winner. The grand champion wins $1,000 and the People’s Choice Award features a custom award.

SoBo Cafe Art Competitions

SoBo Cafe is hosting the free Caffeinated Canvas & Nature’s Palette competition to showcase local artists and celebrate the warmth of a coffee cup or the beauty of leafy greenery with the themes of coffee and nature. Themes include the “Caffeinated Canvas” which is artwork inspired by all things coffee like cups, beans, brewing equipment, latte art, café environment, or abstract coffee themes. The second theme of “Nature’s Palette” focuses on botanical beauty such as lush greenery, tropical plants, forest scenes, succulents, or abstract foliage. Winner takes home $100, second place wins $75, and third place gets $50. A people’s choice winner voted on by attendees receives $25. All participants must submit an original, single full painting on a box-framed canvas. 

When: Jan. 11 at 10 a.m. for dropoff, and public viewing at Jan. 12 from noon to 6 p.m.

King Cakes & Cocktails

A special reception featuring king cake, cocktails, and music will benefit Geaux 4 Kids. Geaux 4 Kids, Inc. is dedicated to aiding and advocating for children in crisis situations and children who are victims of crime by providing essential support to enhance their well-being and create a safer, brighter future for every child. Event tickets for individuals are $50 and couples are $75.

Kicker Monster Truck Show

Nothing like starting off the new year with a shot of adrenaline! The Kicker Monster Truck Tour returns to Bossier with massive trucks crushing cars, racing through obstacles, and performing gravity-defying tricks. This family-friendly, thrilling event will feature such notable trucks as Bigfoot, Geronimo, Predator, Prowler, Loud & Dirty, and Psycho Pat. You must pay for the whole seat, but you’ll only need the edge of it!

When: Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m.

Trace Adkins in concert

Country legend and Louisiana native Trace Adkins is bringing his chart-topping hits to the Paradise Theater for a night of electrifying energy, powerful performances, and pure country magic. For 25 years, Trace Adkins has posted 20 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100, with 15 Top 10 hits on the Country charts. His 13th studio album, The Way I Wanna Go, features a mix of heartfelt ballads, party anthems, and patriotic tunes and collaborations with Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Stevie Wonder, Snoop Dogg, and others.

Bossier City Gun Show

The Bossier City Gun Show hosted by Classic Arms Productions will be held at the Bossier Civic Center with general admission tickets for $10, children 6-11 for $2, children under 6 for free, and free parking. Attendees can trade their old gun for the new gun they’ve always had their eye on, and see hundreds of new and old guns, ammunition, parts, knives, camouflage, and more.

When: Jan. 18 at 9 a.m. and Jan. 19 at 10 a.m.

Archery for Kids and Teens

Take your kids to learn and enjoy the sport of archery with a free event featuring introductory instructions and shooting practice. All equipment will be provided. To sign up, call the refuge at 318-742-1219 or send a text to 318-295-0030 with your name(s), contact info, total number of participants in the party and half-hour time slot between 9-11 a.m. The event may be canceled if it is raining or freezing cold.

When: Jan. 18, at 9 a.m.

Krewe of Elders Grand Bal XXVII

The Krewe of Elders is hosting its annual Grand Bal in Bossier City with a buffet, bar, and music by the Eric Craig Band. The Krewe of Elders is a Mardi Gras non-profit incorporated organization for people 50 and older formed in 1998. The Krewe’s function is to help provide a “budget-friendly” way to be part of the fun and excitement that Mardi Gras brings to our area. The event requires formal attire and mask is optional.

When: Jan. 25, 6 p.m.

Oceanus Grand Bal IV

The Shreveport-based non-profit Mardi Gras Krewe, Oceanus, will host its fourth Grand Bal in Bossier City. Oceanus is one of 16 northwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Krewes and hosts events across the Mardi Gras season culminating with the Bal and parade season. Oceanus prides itself in giving back to the community with school supply drives, meals for veterans, ribbon cutting/groundbreaking ceremonies, and nursing home visits being focused on the Southern Hills area of Shreveport, where the Krewe was originally founded.
