Some of the Best Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day in Bossier

With Father’s Day approaching, you may need some ideas of how to celebrate your dad. Every dad is different, but thankfully, Bossier Parish has many options.

“There are several options that you can do with your family,” Bryan Reed, who his kids call a “professional dad” said.

Here are a few ways to celebrate your dad in Bossier Parish for Father’s Day:

For the Competitive Dad

Bayou Axe Throwing

509 Barksdale Blvd

If you have a dad who shares the gift of competition, consider taking him to Bayou Axe for some axe-throwing fun. At Bayou Axe, you can rent a lane for either 1 hour or 2 hours, and you’ll be able to put your skills to the test by trying to hit the bullseye or competing in interactive games cast digitally on the board. Be sure to reserve your lane online because they can book up fast, but don’t let that deter you from the great atmosphere they provide. Treat dad to a drink during your visit to their bar that serves up cold beers on tap and crafted cocktails. Don’t forget to let your dad have a seat on the Bayou Axe throne so he can be a king for the day!

For the Outdoorsy Dad

Red River Wildlife National Refuge

150 Eagle Bend Point

For some dad’s their favorite thing is to get out and connect with nature, and what better way to connect with dad than taking him to the Red River Wildlife National Refuge. This park offers several trails spanning over 5 miles that vary in distance and terrain type. As you journey through each trail, you’ll be met with breathtaking views as well as informative signs that aim to educate visitors about the habitats of animals that can be found right here in our area. They also offer paddling, fishing, and hunting throughout the year. You can also walk through their educational museum and learn more about things found in your backyard.

For the Gaming Dad

Surge Entertainment

2950 E Texas St. Suite C.

Surge Entertainment offers a variety of activities that you can do with your dad. From trying to strike out in bowling to getting the high score in the arcade, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. Challenge yourself with their Multi-Sport Simulators and feel like a professional athlete. They have over 13 sports you can play through interactive games. If dad’s a golfer, help him work on his back swing, or if he’s wishing he’d gone pro, he can work on his pitch with their baseball simulator. While you work up an appetite, they have a great menu with shareable appetizers, wings, and even soups and salads. If you plan to bowl or use their Multi-Sport Simulators, you can book in advance or upon arrival.

For the Music-Loving Dad

Hurricane Alley LIVE!

500 Ogilvie St.

Located in the East Bank District is Hurricane Alley LIVE. This great outdoor venue features live music and is located in an open container area. Consider grabbing some food or drinks from places conveniently located nearby, like Frozen Pirogue, BeauJax, Flying Heart or 7th Tap Brewing. You and your dad can enjoy listening to live entertainment while enjoying the delicious drinks and eats they have to offer. During the weekend of Father’s Day, there will be a variety of bands performing. Take your dad to enjoy bands like Message from Mercury with Jackson Culp or Green Dazed, a Green Day tribute band.

For the Dad who loves to extend celebrations

Chasing Aces

1111 West 2nd Street

As a bonus, if your dad wants to keep the celebrations going, the new Chasing Aces is set to open the day after Father’s Day with more improvements following in the months after.

“It’s an awesome place. Kind of like Top Golf but with a twist,” Reed said. “I’m really looking forward to that one.”

This new state-of-the-art golf-themed space allows you to select different courses to “play” as well as practice your putting in the putting zone or if you’re wanting to full-send swing like a MLB pro, you can hit in the HRD Batting Bay. They will have great food and tasty drinks, which gives you even more great ways to socialize with dad!

“You could even sit at home and watch the US Open on TV,” he explained. “But in the end, it’s just about spending time with my family.”

Regardless of where you choose to spend time with your dad, we know he’ll be glad to be with you!
