September marks the start of Fall in Bossier Parish, and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the new season. With events featuring live music, ice skating, an outdoor market, and more, there is plenty for locals and visitors to entertain themselves with these September events in Bossier:
Battle of the Bags
Everyone loves a good game of cornhole, and it’s even better when you do it for a good cause. This tournament benefits organizations that support both first responders and military personnel. Participants will compete for cash prizes — $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for third place. Spectators can cheer on teams and enter a raffle for prizes.

Super Derby
The 43rd edition of the Super Derby brings one of the biggest races in the history of Louisiana horse racing to Louisiana Downs Casino & Racetrack. Not just for bettors, this event offers opportunities for families looking for a fun day at the racetrack. Attractions include a hat contest, food trucks, events for kids, and the main event of the Super Derby race.

Bossier Night Market
The largest one-day vendor event in the country returns with 50,000-plus twinkling lights, more than 230 vendors, 15 food trucks, kids’ activities, free Bossier swag, and giveaways. This free event is pet-friendly and includes an indoor air-conditioned seating area and free parking.
When: Sept. 6 from 4-9 p.m.

Lainey Wilson in Concert
Louisiana native Lainey Wilson returns home with her “Whirlwind Tour” featuring special guests ERNEST and Maddox Batson. The country singer-songwriter has received nine Country Music Association Awards, including winning their top honor, Entertainer of the Year in 2023. She has also received a Grammy Award and sixteen Academy of Country Music Awards.

Louisiana State Poker Championship
Louisiana State Poker Championship features some of the top players in the South competing in 15 events spread across nearly two weeks with the main event taking place Sept. 28. This unique game of luck and skill is open to contestants and spectators.

The Liner: A Music Appreciation Series
The Bossier Arts and DJ ReadyRoc host this unique music appreciation series by diving into the album “Purple Rain” by Prince and The Revolution. ReadyRoc will discuss the cultural and entertainment impact of the 1984 release that transcended music, film, and live performances.
