Galentine’s Event Celebrates Empowering Women and Community

Galentine’s in Bossier City has grown into more than a girls’ night out; it’s become an intentional space for women to gather, connect, and celebrate one another. At the center of it all is Heather Dawn, the curator behind the event, whose heart for women and community has shaped Galentine’s into what it is today.
Heather has been hosting Galentine’s for a total of five years, three years open to the public and two years privately in her home. What began as an intimate gathering has evolved into a beautifully curated experience designed to uplift women in every season of life.
“I wanted to create something that celebrated women in a meaningful way! Not with just a night out, but a space where women could feel seen, make new friends, be encouraged, and know they are valued by God,” Dawn said.
“Life gets busy, and we often pour into everyone else before ourselves. This event was brought to life by the desire to give women a moment to be themselves, connect with others, laugh, and be reminded of their worth while celebrating sisterhood, friendship, and femininity in a fun, safe, elevated setting.”
The Purpose and Vision of Galentine’s
Dawn explains that the purpose of Galentine’s is rooted in connection and intention. The vision is an upscale yet welcoming experience filled with yummy food, drinks, empowering moments, beautiful décor, music, and intentional community.
“The purpose of the Galentine’s event is to bring women together for an unforgettable night of girl time, confidence, and celebration,” Dawn explains.
She emphasizes that the event is designed for women to show up exactly as they are. Step out of the hustle and bustle into a night of women celebrating women, whether you come with friends or solo.
“My prayer is that women leave feeling inspired, uplifted, full of purpose, and connected,” said Dawn.
“I want them to walk away knowing they’re not alone, that their presence matters, and that they deserve joy, rest, and celebration. If they leave with new friendships, a full heart, and a renewed sense of self-worth, then the event has done exactly what it was meant to do.”
Empowering Women-Owned Businesses
A key part of the Galentine’s experience is Heather’s commitment to supporting women-owned businesses.
“Supporting women-owned businesses is incredibly important to me because it allows women to uplift and invest in one another,” she said.
“This event is about empowerment, and that extends beyond the dance floor. It’s about creating opportunities, visibility, and community for women who are building something meaningful. I love networking! Anyone who knows me knows this about me. I just feel that when women support other women, everyone wins.”
Vendor Spotlight: More Than Stitches by Laura Guerrero
One of the women-owned businesses participating in Galentine’s is More Than Stitches by Laura Guerrero.
For Laura, the owner and maker behind the business, being part of Galentine’s aligned deeply with her values.
“Being a vendor at the Galentine’s event was important to me because it celebrates community, connection, and supporting local women-owned businesses. Events like this allow small businesses to connect face-to-face with customers, share our stories, and build genuine relationships. It was especially meaningful to be part of an event that uplifts women and encourages shopping, small and local,” she said.
Laura offers handmade fabric accessories and gift items, including key fobs, coffee sleeves, zipper pouches, bow keychains, and curated gift sets, with a strong focus on holiday drops and giftable pieces. She currently serves customers through online pop-up events and shipping, with hopes to participate in more in-person events locally this year and beyond. Supporters can find her through her Facebook group and on Instagram.

A Celebration for Every Woman
At its heart, Galentine’s remains rooted in its motto: empowered women, empower women.
“Galentine’s in Bossier City is for every woman! No matter her age, season of life, or whether she comes with friends, family, or alone. I hope that every woman who attends feels welcomed, valued, and reminded that she deserves to be celebrated simply for being her,” Dawn said.
