Celebrating Black-Owned Businesses in Bossier City

As Black History Month invites us to reflect on legacy, resilience, and progress, it also challenges us to be intentional about where we invest our time, dollars, and support. Several Black-owned businesses in Bossier City are not only building successful brands but also strengthening our community in powerful ways. From real estate to beauty to sweet gathering spaces, each of these entrepreneurs is leaving a meaningful mark on Bossier City.
Building a Legacy Through Homeownership: Chiquita Goodloe
Chiquita Goodloe works alongside her husband, Brandon Goodloe, at Goodloe Property Group, partnered with Keller Williams Realty as their brokerage. For her, real estate is about far more than transactions; it’s about legacy.
Goodloe was inspired to pursue real estate by a desire to serve families in meaningful ways.
“The desire to help families find their homes and create generational wealth inspired me to pursue real estate,” Goodloe said. “I love being able to guide people through one of the biggest decisions of their lives and make the process as smooth and empowering as possible. My journey as a Black realtor in Bossier City has been full of growth and learning. It hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been worth it, and being able to serve my community, represent excellence in real estate, and show that we can build and thrive here has been incredibly rewarding.”
Goodloe is intentional about educating her clients, ensuring they understand their numbers, feel confident in the process, and are empowered rather than intimidated. She views every closing as planting a seed, equity that can later fund college, businesses, stability, and opportunity for the next generation.
“As a Black realtor in Bossier City, I’m intentional about education. Closing the gap starts with knowledge, access, and representation. And I’m proud to be part of that change, one family at a time.”
Her message during Black History Month is simple yet powerful: You are not behind. You are not late. You are capable. Homeownership is possible, and it is a meaningful step toward building stability and ownership in every sense of the word.
“This month reminds us of how far we’ve come, and I want families to know that owning a home can be part of your story, too. And you don’t have to figure it out alone,” Goodloe said.

Confidence, Care & Community: Experience the Beauty of Racal | Owner & Licensed Esthetician
Racal Johnson is the owner and licensed esthetician behind Experience the Beauty of Racal. Her journey into aesthetics began unexpectedly when her sister asked her to do her lashes. After learning through online resources, she discovered the broader world of aesthetics and enrolled in virtual classes offered by Pat Goins.
“When I enrolled, I quickly realized that aesthetics was about so much more than lashes. I learned about skin health, waxing, facials, brows, and overall self-care. What truly inspired me was understanding how these services help women feel confident, cared for, and beautiful, inside and out.”
Johnson creates a safe, judgment-free space for her clients. She prioritizes education, personalized treatments, and helping women understand their skin. For her, self-care is not a luxury; it is necessary. When clients leave her table, she wants them to feel informed, confident, and proud of investing in themselves.
Black History Month reminds Johnson that she is part of a legacy of resilient entrepreneurs who turned passion into purpose.
“Black History Month represents resilience, ownership, and the power of building something meaningful despite the odds,” Johnson said. “As a black woman and business owner, it motivates me to continue creating opportunities, uplifting other women, and showing that we can build successful businesses while making a positive impact in our community.”
Future clients can reach Johnson via social media or book directly online under Experience the Beauty of Racal. Here, clients can view her work, services, and all booking details.

A Sweet Space for Connection: Peaches N Kreem With A Twist
Peaches Hyatt is the owner of Peaches N Kreem with a Twist, an ice cream shop and café serving South Bossier. After over 30 years of business ownership, she recognized a clear need for a family-friendly ice cream shop in the area.
“I looked, and there was a definite need in South Bossier for a family-friendly ice cream shop and cafe. I think what makes Peaches N Kreeme With A Twist unique is the interior design; it’s structured for families,” said Hyatt.
She intentionally designed Peaches N Kreem as a gathering place.
“I think my business would be a great place to gather for high schools, the elderly, families, and those looking for a workspace. I tried to set it up like an old-fashioned ice cream shop with a modern twist. I also added free Wi-Fi,” she said.
For Hyatt, one of the most rewarding aspects of entrepreneurship is being in control of her destiny. She expresses pride and gratitude as a black business owner, to provide a joyful space where people of all ages can connect and create memories.
