Bossier Milennial Pro: Megan Statham
Bossier isn’t just home to a military base, industrial manufacturing, and oil and gas, it’s also home to a burgeoning cyber industry, a downtown undergoing a transformation, and a slew of millennials who either decided to double down on life in their hometown or moved here because they see the vision and opportunity. This month, we’re visiting with Megan Statham, a real estate appraiser, who lives, works and plays in Bossier City.
What do you do?
I work for two appraisers as I am training. Will FINALLY be certified in a couple of months.
Why?
It’s kind of a long story. Let’s just say all the glory goes to God. I love it!
What is a normal day like for you?
To summarize: Morning workout, work, evening workout. I’m all over town everyday.
Why do you live/work in Bossier?
I grew up in Bossier. I like it a lot better than Shreveport, I feel like it’s safer and my parents live in Bossier. It’s just better 🙂
What is your favorite thing about Bossier?
I’ve never really thought about that. Maybe it’s that everything I need is close? Since I’m all over Shreveport-Bossier all the time, even into DeSoto Parish, having everything close by is great.
Where is your favorite hang out spot and why?
Christ Fit Gym since I go there and work out all the time now.
What is your favorite thing to do in Bossier?
I don’t do much except work and workout right now. And when I do get to do stuff, it’s going to be 5K races out of town.
What would you like to see Bossier have in the future it doesn’t have now?
A better traffic light system! If they would sync the darn lights on Airline better, then traffic wouldn’t be so stinking bad! But seriously though, more recreation. We need better bike trails.
What do you want to accomplish in the future?
I want to get on my feet as an appraiser this year and get my bills paid off. And, train for and run Obstacle Course Races!
If you could tell other people one thing about life in Bossier, what would it be?
I’ve heard Bossier described as “The biggest small town you will ever live in,” and I think that’s so true. You can almost always run into someone you know. Most people in Bossier have Southern Hospitality, and that’s such a relief from the day-to-day nonsense you hear about.
