‘Sno’ Place Like Home: Where to get Snoballs in Bossier

Summer temps are heating up and what better way to cool down than to enjoy a nice, cold snoball? And yes, there is a difference between a snow cone and a snoball! Snoballs are created with fluffy, fine ice as opposed to a snow cone, which is made with crunchy ice. The snoball’s ice helps absorb more of the syrup compared to a snow cone which tends to have the juice sink to the bottom of the cup. It’s serious business, so here’s where you can snoballs in Bossier: 

The Taylors Shack, LLC

In May of 2022, Crystal and her husband Johnny opened The Taylors Shack, LLC. Since opening, they have served the people of Bossier from 1-7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday by way of their shack located in the Freedom Church parking lot at 2225 Airline Drive. When they aren’t serving in their usual spot, you can find them in subdivisions or visiting schools. 

Taylors Shack offers 40 different flavors, from blue raspberry and wedding cake to mango and cappuccino. They also have a few dye-free syrup options. You can even try mixing flavors like peach and piña colada – Crystal Taylor’s favorite! To top off your snoball, they offer a variety of toppings such as – layered pickles, Nerds and Nerd Clusters, Sour Patch Kids, Sour Belts, and cream. They also offer Tijin and Chamoy if you prefer some spice. 

Some of their most popular flavors are blue raspberry, wedding cake and tiger’s blood. For any Harry Potter fans, you don’t have to travel to the wizarding world to enjoy the taste of Butter Beer, the Taylors Shack has you covered.

Streetcar Snostation

What started as a traveling snoball trailer has now turned into a franchise. Erica Gilliam opened her first Streetcar, the traveling trailer, on Mardi Gras Day in 2018, and as of August 2022, you can visit their brick-and-mortar location in the East Bank District. 

Her favorite part of having her business in Bossier is, “The loyalty and love from so many people who have embraced my New Orleans theme, and filled a void of missing home,” Gilliam said. 

Streetcar’s main location is serving up these New Orleans style snoballs with their summer hours (May 21 – August 3) from 12-8 p.m. on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday and 12-9 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 409 Barksdale Boulevard. 

They have all the traditional flavors you can think of and some unique ones like the doberge cake, a rich chocolatey flavor and even spearmint. If you want to try something different, try a stuffed snoball. They take their fluffy snoball, then stuff it with creamy and delicious ice cream. 

Streetcar Station Prices

Prices start at $3 and go up to $10 depending on size and flavor. You can also get a variety of toppings like Chamoy, caramel, condensed milk and even sour spray.

Frosty’s Sno Shak

Sandra Hayes opened Frosty’s Sno Shak in 2012 and has been serving up snoball sweetness ever since. You can find Frosty’s operating from 12-7 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2-7 p.m. on Sunday in the Ellis Pottery parking lot at 1150 Airline Drive. 

They have around 40 flavors and offer sugar-free flavors. There is something for everyone! Currently, Frosty’s Sno Shak’s most popular flavor is strawberry cheesecake. If you want to branch out, they can also add a little extra flair to your snoball. 

“I have extreme snoballs that have creams and candy in them,” Sandra Hayes said.

Be sure to visit some of these fabulous snoball stands and keep in mind that snoballs might be weather permitting. Many locations will be closed when inclement weather takes place.
