It’s Football Season! Here’s How to Celebrate in Bossier

Football season in the South isn’t just about the game; it’s about traditions, food, friends, and finding the perfect spot to cheer on your team. To kick off our Game Day Guide, we sat down with local fans to hear how they prepare for the season and where they score their merch. We’re also spotlighting two of Bossier City’s game day hangouts to see what makes them the ultimate places to watch football.

How do you prepare for football season?

Shakeila Miles, a huge sports fan, said she plans early for the season by looking at the schedules as soon as they drop.

“I like to see which games are home games and away. This allows me to plan for any games I plan to travel to or plan to watch locally,” said Miles.

When cheering on your favorite football team with high energy and excitement, comfortable attire is key. Miles said her go-to gear for cheering on her favorite teams is a team jersey or T-shirt paired with shorts and comfortable sneakers.

“I usually get my game day gear from Walmart or Amazon, but recently I learned that Krush Boutique in Bossier City has all of the game day essentials, from shirts, accessories, bags, and more,” Miles said.

This football season, Miles is excited to cheer on the LSU Tigers and the Washington Commanders.

“Because I planned early this football season, I will cheer on the LSU Tigers and the Washington Commanders in person. The secret to affordable tickets if you plan to cheer your team on in person is to purchase tickets early,” Miles said.

Game Day Snacks

Of course, football isn’t just about the gear or the action on the field; it’s also about what’s on the table. Nothing sets the tone for game day like great snacks. Whether you’re cheering your team on from the comfort of your couch, in the stadium, or at a local business, the right food can make the experience even more memorable.

“My go-to game day food to enjoy while cheering on my favorite team is wings, Rotel, and burgers when the weather is hot. During the colder weather games, a large pot of warm gumbo served with rice or potato salad gets me in the mood to cheer my team to victory,” said Tim Owens.

Football season isn’t just about the big plays; it’s also about the snacks that fuel the excitement. Game day calls for easy, shareable bites that keep everyone satisfied without missing a moment of the action.
