Fun Bossier Events in April
Archaeology and Ancient Times: A Concise Survey of 14,000 Years
5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 13, 150 Eagle Bend Point, Bossier City
For anyone with an interest in archaeology, this presentation and meeting of the Northwest Louisiana Archaeology Society will provide a view of what we as humans have learned, and hope to learn, from the study of the material remains of past activity in Northwest Louisiana. Attending this program will peak your knowledge of the known and provide information on major changes in camps, towns, and villages; tools and technologies; weaponry and fortifications; foods; houses and other buildings; and mounds and earthworks. If you want to learn more about the Caddo farming and fishing villages, don’t miss this program presented by former archaeologist Jeff Girard.
Battle of the Badges
7 to 10 p.m. April 14, Horseshoe Casino
Thirteen bouts will decide the winners between local fire fighters and police officers. This event benefiting the Bossier City Fire Fighters Association and other agencies, presents a competitive event for a good cause. Two Shreveport police officers will battle for the Light Heavyweight Title Belt as Battle of the Badges returning fighter, Ian Haygood will take on Officer Stacy Coleman. If you are in it for those heart-pounding moments, stay put for the main event when West Monroe fire fighter Quinton Henry takes on Shreveport police officer LaKendrick O’Neal.

Louisiana Boardwalk Spring Parade
4 p.m. April 15
Who says Mardi Gras is the end of parade season? Eager for another parade? The Spring Parade, hosted by Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets & Cumulus Radio, is a fun celebration that takes you right through the Boardwalk. The parade route will start at the Courtyard Marriott and end at Bass Pro Shop. You can even get festive and wear on your Easter bonnet at the parade.

Chocolate and Champagne
7 to 10 p.m. April 22, DiamondJacks Casino
For a night of sweet chocolate treats and bubbly never-ending champagne you’ll want to attend the Easterseals fundraising event. Chocolate and Champagne, in its sixth year, is an event to provide support for Easterseals services as the nonprofit works to create a more inclusive world for those with disabilities. During the event, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator will be honored with the Lily Award.

Wayne Toups
8 p.m. April 29, Margaritaville
Crowley native Wayne Toups journeys to North Louisiana to play songs from his self-titled album that was released in 2016. Often called “The Cajun Spingsteen,” Toups took home a Grammy in 2013. After touring more than 20 countries and recording more than a dozen albums, Toups has created a unique sound called, “zydecajun”. This legend’s songs are sure to entertain Margaritaville this spring. If not at a festival or in concert, you may have heard him on film soundtracks such as Steel Magnolias and Dirty Rice.

RARC of Northwest Louisiana-Competition 3
8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29, Bossier Civic Center
Who doesn’t enjoy a good STEM event? The Regional Autonomous Robotics Circuit Competition 3, presented by The National Integrated Cyber Education Research Center (the academic division of the Cyber Innovation Center), is a final series of three competitions. RARC, for students in grades 3-12, allows this group to showcase their science, technology, engineering, and math – and cyber skills by competing against one another.

KidFest 2017

KidFest celebrates the of Month of the Military Child, The Warrior Network and the Northwest Louisiana Military Support Foundation. This free event is one of the best ways for military families to get out and enjoy their community. So many activities will fill the day and there will even be community volunteers interacting with you to ensure fun.
